The Silver Screen Theatre, Pensacola's premier discount first-run movie theatre, located behind University Mall, is Escambia county's only locally owned and operated movie theatre.  It is also Escambia county's longest running movie theatre.  It was opened in 1982 as Pensacola's most unique single-screened theatre.  In 1983, it was twinned, and in 1996 two more huge screens were added.  The theatre is unique and fun for all ages.   In addition to popcorn, soft drinks and candy, the theatre has an expanded food and drink menu, including such items as gourmet pizza, chicken wings, shrimp, chicken tenders, hamburgers, nachos, french fries, spirits,....At our theatre, you can actually enjoy "Dinner + a Movie" at an affordable price.  Our "Dinner & a Movie"  special every night is only $10.  This includes a first-run movie, an entree of your choice, and a large soft drink or a 12 oz. draft.  When's the last time you went to a restaurant and seen a movie?  Never, unless you've been to The Silver Screen!  Instead of using conventional bolted-down seats, we offer movable comfortable chairs and tables--yes, you can actually eat a pizza at a table while viewing a current movie.  Come try it for yourself!  With movable chairs, "there's never a head in the way".  Purchase of food is not necessary to view a movie.     Recently, substantial renovations have been completed to the entire theatre--from outside, to the lobby, and to all auditoriums--"ya gotta see it to believe it".  Offering the same state-of-the-art projection and digital sound systems (DTS) as other theatres, The Silver Screen is Pensacola's best entertainment value.   Offering discount first-run movies, matinees are only $4.00, while features starting after 6 PM are $6.00. Admission for first run movies for senior citizens, military, students, and children under 11 years is ALWAYS $4.00.  Children under 3 are free.  Special late nite engagements showing cult classics are only $3.00.  Wednesday night specials are $5 pizza and $1 draft.  Thursday night specials are 25 cent wings and $1 draft.  This is truly Pensacola's best entertainment value.  Why pay more?  Movie tickets can now be purchased online, and credit cards (MasterCard & Visa) are accepted at the box office and at the concession stand. Recently, 3 new LCD digital full screen video projectors featuring S-XGA resolution were installed. Now you can view Monday Night Football, pay-per-view sports events, television specials... on Pensacola's biggest screen in Stereo. It's so big we call it "VIRTUAL SPORTS". .
